Used Motorcycles as Gifts
It is always enjoyable to give a gift. There isn't much better than watching someone's face as they open up a gift that you have expressly chosen for them. If you've gotten the gift right, their eyes light up and a smile beams across their face. Sometimes, though, it's hard to choose that perfect gift. A new trend is crossing the globe, thanks, in part, to celebrities: giving motorcycles for gifts.
Celebrities and Motorcycles
There are plenty of celebrities who ride motorcycles, and you can bet that they're definitely not used motorcycles. Stars like George Clooney and Brad Pitt have been photographed all over the country riding their motorcycles and enjoying life. Some celebrities, like Jay Leno, have collections of motorcycles just sitting there, being admired and gathering dust. This has started a trend among celebrity gift-givers of giving motorcycles as gifts. Of course, celebrities can afford much more than the average person, so how could a normal, 9-5 worker afford to give someone a motorcycle, even if it is a used motorcycle? And when would it be appropriate?
Used Motorcycles
Used motorcycles are much less expensive than brand new ones, especially if you take your time, do your research, and browse around. Thanks to the internet, it's possible to find almost any kind of used motorcycle you would like, and most probably at a price you can afford. There are also plenty of people who are likely to trade their motorcycle in for something else, such as a used car or a boat. If you've got something lying around that is worth a motorcycle and you want to give one as a gift, think about trading it in.
Fixer-upper
Another option, if you're mechanically inclined, is to get a used motorcycle that needs a little work. You can find used motorcycle parts cheaply and easily online and, if you're good at fixing motorcycles, can have one outfitted and ready to go in a short amount of time and for a price that doesn't hurt your wallet. If you're giving the motorcycle to someone who likes to tinker with bikes, think about giving it to them broken. Make sure, of course, that you either give them the money to get the parts or include them in the gift giving process, but if they're into putting bikes together, they might relish the opportunity to do it themselves.
When to Give a Motorcycle
So when should you give a used motorcycle as a gift? Whenever! Some like to give them as birthday or Christmas presents while others save them for graduation. Some people even give motorcycles as wedding gifts! There have been wives who have given their husbands a motorcycle as an anniversary present and husband who have given wives one right back. Make sure, though, that you're giving a motorcycle to someone who will appreciate it and enjoy it, and that you don't buy it for yourself. Used motorcycles are so reasonably priced that you might be able to afford a new one for yourself as well!
